Nicky Cooke is a senior associate with KPPB LAW’s commercial real estate finance and transactions practice. She supports the CRE practice and practice partners Kirtan Patel, Samir Patel in facilitating hospitality transactions and other real estate transactions for the firm’s business clients. She brings more than five years of real estate law experience with national corporations, Atlanta law firms, as well as government agencies.
Before joining KPPB LAW, Nicky facilitated title policies for national, multimillion-dollar real estate transactions as transaction counsel/associate underwriting counsel for First American Title Insurance Company – National Commercial Services. Customers included global giants in the retail space and multifamily housing development. She wrote title policies and collaborated with underwriting to formalize documentation that ultimately aided the development of client construction projects across the United States.
Her experiences as a real estate associate with Atlanta law firms focused on transactions for retail real estate development including franchises and large retail complexes. She also has experience with commercial leasing for both landlords and tenant, with a focus on landlord leasing. Early in her legal career, Nicky served as a network real estate specialist with a telecommunications company where her role focused on negotiating with field-based permitting managers to secure permitting/zoning approval for telecommunication and wireless technology infrastructure across the Southeast. She also secured entitlements and agreements for access to existing (and installation of new) ROW poles.
Prior to her legal career, Nicky served as real estate paralegal for various Atlanta law firms. She also gained visibility into legal operations within government agencies during internships with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and The City of Atlanta Solicitor’s Office.
Born in New York, Nicky grew up in Cobb County, Georgia, and regularly visited construction job sites as a child with her father (a construction contractor); influencing her interest in real estate development. Nicky concurrently earned her juris doctor degree and master of business administration degree from Mercer University. She earned her sociology degree from Spelman College. Nicky is admitted to practice law in Georgia, and is located in KPPB LAW’s Atlanta office.
