Yusuf Mohamed advises workforce leaders and business executives on workplace challenges that often define an organization’s success. He is an employment/labor lawyer and litigator with nearly three decades of experience, having previously served as in-house corporate counsel with tech startups, multinational companies, agribusiness and the federal government.
His practice with KPPB LAW centers on employment/labor law and litigation, as well as workplace strategy including employee relations, internal investigations, change management, organizational compliance, policy development and crisis management. Whether addressing a sensitive staffing matter or helping leadership strategically map out policy and culture decisions related to business mergers, Yusuf brings a practical, business-first approach grounded in his corporate counsel experience.
Before returning to private law practice, he served as deputy general counsel at Tesla, Inc. during a period of rapid global growth and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting as the company’s sole employment lawyer, he built and led a worldwide legal team and supported a workforce that expanded from approximately 10,000 to more than 100,000 Tesla employees. He worked closely with executives and organizational leaders to navigate workplace investigations, performance management, health/safety/compliance challenges, and the legal complexities that come with operating across multiple and global jurisdictions.
Earlier, as associate general counsel at the nation’s third largest poultry producer, Wayne-Sanderson Farms (formerly Wayne Farms LLC), Yusuf served as a legal advisor to executives across a large, distributed workforce. Yusuf began his legal career as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor, where he litigated and advised on employment discrimination, workplace safety, and labor matters. He handled cases before administrative law judges, provided counsel on enforcement actions, and developed a deep understanding of how regulators evaluate employer decisions—insight that informs his proactive approach to staying ahead of risk.
Having worked across virtually every facet of legal practice, Yusuf brings a uniquely holistic perspective to client challenges—he knows how to quickly frame an issue, anticipate adjacent risks, and connect clients with the right resources to solve problems effectively, in essence, bridging gaps and providing clients with greater alignment and insight.
Yusuf earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also holds a corporate governance certification from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in Gainesville, Georgia, Yusuf speaks Arabic and is an avid car racer as a member of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Active in the Atlanta business community, he is a mentor to start-ups, growing companies and their leadership teams. Yusuf is based in the Atlanta office of KPPB LAW.
